The industry is losing drive
In logistics and transport, pressure on drivers is higher than ever. Long hours, constant vibrations and driver shortages create serious health risks and rising costs. Musculoskeletal disorders account for 30% of absenteeism, costing billions each year. Many drivers leave the profession early due to physical strain.
Seating plays a critical role. It directly affects health, performance and job satisfaction. Poor support often starts at the pelvis, leading to misalignment of the spine and increasing strain throughout the body.
The road ahead
CoverWorks addresses this in the design phase by focusing on the driver first. We ask three key questions: how to support long hours, how to fit every body, and how to create a future-proof solution.
Using a vacuum bag, each driver’s posture is captured and translated into a precise 3D-printed seat inlay. This improves posture, distributes pressure and creates stability. The inlay is not tied to one vehicle, making it transferable, scalable and sustainable.
- 30% of annual absenteeism is caused by musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs)
- €2.86 billion annual cost of MSD-related absenteeism
- 80%+ of these costs can be reduced by eliminating posture-related issues
- €2.44 billion potential yearly savings across the industry
